Miss World 2017

The 67th edition of the Miss World pageant, which was held on 18 November 2017 at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China. Total of 118 contestants from all over the world competed for this prestigious crown. Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico crowned her successor Manushi Chhillar of India at the end of the event. She is the 6th Indian to win the Miss World crown after 17 years. Lastly, India last won the crown in 2000 when Priyanka Chopra was crowned by Yukta Mookhey.

    The quarter finalists were trimmed down to Top 10 semi-finalists which includes Indonesia, Russia, England, Korea, Jamaica, Mexico, South Africa, India, Kenya and France. Subsequently, the contestants were further shortlisted down to Top 5 finalists wherein England, France, India, Kenya, and Mexico made the final cut. This year at the Miss World pageant Multimedia Award was won by Mongolia. Beauty with a Purpose was won by South Africa, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and Philippines and Talent Round was won by the gorgeous Miss Malta. The audience witnessed a scintillating performance from Hong Kong’s very own Celina Tam.

    Manushi winning shot at the competition came with her heartfelt response to the question posed by the judges — which profession in the world deserves the highest salary and why. She replied: “My mother has been my biggest inspiration, so I have to say, a mother’s job. It is not always about cash, but love and respect as well. A mother deserves that the most.”
