Giving a helmet as the Raksha Bandhan Gift to her brother is a part of the campaign by Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP from Nizamabad, Kavitha to promote road safety for two-wheeler riders.
Kavitha, the only daughter of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, tied rakhi to her brother on the auspicious Festival celebrated across the nation on 7th of August 2017 and gifted him a helmet as a gift which is a part of her online campaign “Gift A Helmet This Rakhi”. On August 4, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP launched a website — sisters4change.com and her online campaign #GiftAHelmet which was launched on July 24 received great response from many Central Ministers and other sports personalities such as Mithali Raj, Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. In support of her campaign Kavitha said that, daily approximately 400 riders die in road accidents, just because they don’t wear helmets. There was 29% of all road accidents in 2015, which claimed 45,540 lives. “That is why let us join hands for our brothers’ safety. Set a new trend this Rakhi by gifting your brother a helmet,” she added.
