Biodegradable Sanitary Napkins, Now At Rs 2.50 Per Pad
Yes, it is true, Government had launched this scheme which which will be available at Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Kendras. These pads will be available in a pack of 4 which cost Rs 10 across over 3,200 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras, Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar. The Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers is introducing the same under the name ‘Suvidha‘.
Today where average market price sanitary napkins is approximately Rs 32, the government has launched these oxo-biodegradable pads priced at Rs 10 for health security of Indian women, keeping under privileged and are in rural areas women in mind. Also, the best part is other market sanitary pads are non-biodegradable, while these are biodegradable.
As per the National Family Health Survey 2015-16, about 58% of women aged between 15 to 24 years use locally prepared napkins which is very unhygienic to there health and is the cause of many diseases. The launch is in line with an aim to provide quality drugs available at affordable prices to common people of India.
